007 First Light hits 1.5 million sales in 24 hours despite FSR 4 backlash

IO Interactive confirmed that 007 First Light sold 1.5 million copies within 24 hours of its May 27 launch, according to a post on X. That's a strong showing for a new IP, though SteamDB shows the game peaked at only 68,477 concurrent players on Steam during day one.

The launch wasn't clean. Players are frustrated that the game ships without FSR 4 support — AMD's latest upscaler — and IO disabled DLL mod injectors, which blocks common frame-gen tools and ReShade presets. For a $60 title targeting high-end rigs, those omissions sting.

Still, 1.5 million in a day means people are buying it. Whether they stick around depends on how fast IO patches in the missing features. Right now, you're stuck with DLSS if you want upscaling, and Radeon users are left out.

If you grabbed it, run a playbook to see where your rig stands. First Light is demanding, and tweaking settings can claw back 15–20 FPS on mid-tier cards.
