Privacy Policy

1. Who we are
BetterFPS is a web application that generates AI-powered PC game settings recommendations. BetterFPS is a product operated by MNM Ventures, LLC (organized under the laws of Wyoming and Louisiana), and BetterFPS is a wholly owned subsidiary brand of MNM Ventures, LLC. References to "we," "us," or "BetterFPS" in this policy refer to MNM Ventures, LLC operating the BetterFPS service.
This policy applies to betterfps.com and any associated subdomains. It does not apply to third-party sites we link to (e.g. Amazon, Stripe).
2. What we collect
We collect only what we need to run the service. Specifically:
Information you give us
- Email address — when you sign in via magic link, Google, or Discord.
- Display name and avatar URL — provided by Google or Discord during OAuth sign-in. We never receive your password for those services.
- Hardware configuration you enter or paste — GPU, CPU, RAM, monitor resolution and refresh rate, storage type, operating system.
- Game and priority preferences — which game you optimize for and whether you prefer max FPS, balanced, or visual quality.
- Saved playbooks (Pro) — the configs and AI recommendations you elect to save.
- Billing information — when you subscribe, Stripe collects payment details. We never see or store your card number; we only see Stripe's customer ID and subscription status.
Information we collect automatically
- Detect-my-rig browser data, when you click that button: GPU model string from WebGL, screen resolution, refresh rate measurement, OS version (Windows 10/11), HDR/color-gamut support. This data is sent to our server only when you submit the form.
- IP address — used to rate-limit anonymous API requests and to satisfy Stripe's fraud screening. Our servers retain raw IP in access logs for ~30 days.
- Anonymous shared playbook IDs — when you generate a playbook, we store the result keyed by a random short ID for 60 days so the share URL works.
What we don't collect
- No analytics SDKs, no session recordings, no behavioral tracking pixels.
- No third-party advertising cookies.
- No location data beyond what your IP address already discloses.
- No phone number unless you elect to provide one to Stripe in the billing portal.
- No social-graph data from Google/Discord beyond name, avatar, and email.
3. How we use your information
- To generate your playbook — your hardware and game inputs are sent to Anthropic (see Third-Party Services below) to produce AI recommendations.
- To authenticate you — your email, name, and avatar are used to maintain your account session.
- To deliver Pro features — saved playbooks, patch alerts (planned), and personalized recommendations.
- To send transactional email — sign-in links, billing receipts, and (if you're a Pro subscriber) patch alerts. We do not use your email for marketing without your explicit opt-in.
- To process payments — Stripe handles the transaction; we use the result to update your Pro status.
- To rate-limit and prevent abuse — IP-based throttling on anonymous endpoints.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for advertising purposes.
4. Third-party services we use
We use the following processors. Each has its own privacy policy governing how they handle the data we send them.
- Anthropic (Claude API) — your hardware specs, game choice, and priority preferences are sent to Anthropic to generate the AI playbook. Per Anthropic's commercial terms, your inputs are not used to train their models. Anthropic Privacy Policy
- Supabase — hosts our authentication system and database. Your email, profile, and saved playbooks live there. Supabase Privacy Policy
- Resend — sends our transactional emails (sign-in links, receipts, alerts). Resend Privacy Policy
- Stripe — processes all subscription payments. Stripe collects your card and billing details directly; we never receive them. Stripe Privacy Policy
- Amazon Associates — when you click a GPU-upgrade affiliate link on a results page, Amazon may set a referrer cookie tied to our affiliate tag. Any purchase you make afterward is governed by Amazon's policies. Amazon Privacy Notice
- Google and Discord — only when you choose them for OAuth sign-in. They share your basic profile (email, name, avatar) with us per their respective developer terms.
5. How long we keep your data
- Anonymous shared playbooks — 60 days, then auto-deleted.
- Saved playbooks (Pro) — until you delete them or close your account.
- Account records (email, profile) — until you delete your account.
- Server access logs — approximately 30 days, for security and abuse-prevention.
- Billing records — retained per Stripe's policy and applicable tax law (typically 7 years).
7. Your rights
Regardless of where you live, you can:
- Access the personal data we hold about you — email support@betterfps.com.
- Delete your account and all associated data. Email the same address with subject "Delete my account".
- Correct inaccurate billing or profile data via your dashboard or the Stripe customer portal.
- Export your saved playbooks — the dashboard's "Copy playbook" button gives you the raw data.
- Withdraw consent for any processing based on consent — including signing out of OAuth or unsubscribing from non-transactional emails.
8. International users (EU / UK / EEA)
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and similar laws give you additional rights. Our legal basis for processing your data is:
- Contract — to deliver the service you signed up for.
- Legitimate interest — for abuse prevention, rate limiting, and security logging.
- Consent — for any optional emails you opt into.
- Legal obligation — for tax and accounting records.
To exercise rights under GDPR, including data subject access requests, contact support@betterfps.com. We are a small operator and do not have a designated Data Protection Officer; the contact above reaches the responsible person directly.
9. California residents
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and similar state laws (e.g. Colorado, Virginia, Connecticut) grant you specific rights:
- The right to know what personal information we collect.
- The right to delete your personal information.
- The right to correct inaccurate personal information.
- The right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information.
- The right to non-discrimination for exercising these rights.
We do not sell your personal information. Affiliate links to Amazon are not considered a "sale" of personal data — we receive a commission on purchases you make at Amazon, but we don't transmit your personal data to Amazon for that purpose; only your click is shared.
10. Children
BetterFPS is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us their information, email support@betterfps.com and we will delete it.
11. Security
We use TLS for all traffic, store passwords as cryptographic tokens managed by Supabase, and limit administrative access. No internet service can guarantee absolute security — if you suspect unauthorized access to your account, contact us immediately.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll notify you by email (if you have an account) and update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the service after the change means you accept the updated policy.
