Alienware RTX 5090 prebuilt drops to $4,780 — cheaper than buying the GPU alone

Dell cut the Alienware Aurora R16 with an RTX 5090 to $4,780, according to IGN. That's cheaper than buying the GPU by itself — scalped 5090s are going for $4,500 new and $4,000 used right now.

The system ships with a Core Ultra 9 285K (Arrow Lake), 64GB DDR5-6000, and a 2TB PCIe 5.0 SSD. You're paying roughly $280 for the rest of the build after GPU cost, which is absurd given CPU alone is $500-ish at retail. Dell's clearly eating margin to move inventory.

This is one of the only times in recent memory where a prebuilt actually undercuts DIY on pure math. If you've been hunting a 5090 and don't care about aesthetic or brand loyalty, this is the play. The Aurora R16 isn't the prettiest case and Dell's airflow has been middling in past gens, but you're getting the fastest consumer GPU for less than it costs standalone.
