AMD promises FSR 4.1 quality parity for RX 7000 cards when it ships in July

AMD confirmed at Computex that FSR 4.1 will hit RDNA 3 GPUs in July with the same upscaling quality as the RDNA 4-exclusive version that shipped with the RX 9000 series. Chief Software Officer Andrej Zdravkovic and Senior Director Terry Makedon told TechPowerUp the model running on RX 7000 cards will match what RX 9000 users already have.

FSR 4.1 launched as an RDNA 4 exclusive in January. The July update brings it to the entire RX 7000 lineup — 7600, 7700 XT, 7800 XT, 7900 GRE, 7900 XT, 7900 XTX. No cut-down version, no gimped tier. Same neural net, same image quality.

This matters if you bought a 7900 XTX last year and watched DLSS 3.5 pull ahead. FSR 4.1 closes that gap in side-by-side tests we've seen, especially at 1440p Quality mode. You're not stuck on FSR 3.1 anymore.

Worth updating your driver the day it drops. If you're running FSR 3.1 now and seeing ghosting or shimmer in motion, 4.1's temporal model cleans that up. Check your Radeon settings when the July build goes live — you'll want to toggle it on per-game.
