AMD FSR 4.1 coming to Xbox Series X|S and ROG Ally handhelds
FSR 4.1 headed to Xbox consoles and ROG Ally, no timeline yet

AMD and Microsoft announced FSR 4.1 upscaling support for Xbox Series X, Series S, and ASUS ROG Ally handhelds during an AMD video presentation. Jack Huynh (AMD) and Scott Van Vliet (Xbox CTO) confirmed the rollout, with ROG Ally devices slated to ship first and consoles marked "coming soon."
Both Xbox consoles run RDNA 2 graphics, the same architecture as the Radeon RX 6000 series, which AMD also confirmed for FSR 4.1 today — months ahead of its early 2027 target. Neither company shared a release date or which games will support the feature at launch.
AMD also teased "FSR Diamond" during the presentation, tied to an unnamed "Project Helix" initiative. No details on what Diamond is or how it differs from the existing FSR 4 stack.
This matters if you game on Xbox or a handheld. FSR 4.1 should deliver better image quality and performance headroom than the older FSR 2/3 implementations current Xbox titles use. The Ally getting it first suggests AMD is prioritizing the handheld form factor, where upscaling makes the biggest difference at lower native resolutions.
