AMD confirms FSR frame pacing fixes in the works, still silent on multi-frame gen
Frame pacing fix confirmed, but AMD dodges the multi-frame question

AMD confirmed it's working on frame pacing issues plaguing FSR 4, according to PC Gamer. The stuttering shows up most noticeably when FSR's frame generation kicks in — users report micro-hitches that break the smoothness even when average FPS looks fine. AMD didn't give a timeline for the patch.
What AMD didn't mention: multi-frame generation. NVIDIA's DLSS 4 generates up to three frames per rendered frame on RTX 50-series cards, which is a big part of why Blackwell GPUs push such high frame counts in titles like Cyberpunk 2077 and Alan Wake 2. FSR 4 still generates one interpolated frame per real frame, same as FSR 3. AMD has been quiet on whether multi-frame is even on the roadmap.
The frame pacing fix matters more than the feature gap. Stuttering ruins the feel of high FPS more than a raw number deficit does. If AMD can nail smooth frame delivery with single-frame generation, FSR 4 stays competitive for most players who aren't chasing 240Hz minimums. But the silence on multi-frame suggests AMD either can't match it yet or doesn't think the performance cost is worth it.
If you're running FSR 4 and hitting stutters, check whether your rig is actually hitting the frame generation targets — run a fresh optimization playbook to confirm your settings aren't bottlenecking elsewhere first.
