AMD reportedly pushing 10% GPU price hike to August

AMD is delaying its planned GPU price increase by a month, per Chinese Board Channels sources cited by TechPowerUp. The company will raise prices by at least 10% in August instead of the previously reported July timeframe. The hike affects AMD's agreements with GDDR6 memory suppliers — SK hynix, Micron, and Samsung — who bundle memory with GPU dies from TSMC to form complete GPU kits.

The timing matters. August sits right between now and the holiday buying season. If you're eyeing an RX 9070 XT or waiting to see if RX 7000 cards drop further, you have about three weeks before the floor rises. Board partners will absorb some of the increase, but street prices will climb.

This is a bad break for anyone shopping sub-$400 cards. The RX 7600 and 7700 XT already sit in a tight value band against NVIDIA's RTX 4060 and 4060 Ti — a 10% bump pushes them closer to the next tier up without the performance to match. Mid-range 1080p and 1440p builds just got tighter.
