AMD's RDNA 5 graphics cards won't hit shelves until late 2027 or early 2028, according to PC Gamer sources at Computex. That's a longer gap than the typical 18–24 month cadence between GPU generations.

RDNA 4 launched earlier this year with the RX 8000 series. If this timeline holds, you're looking at a 30+ month wait for the next architecture. Board partners at the show said AMD hasn't finalized specs yet, which tracks with a 2027–2028 window.

This matters if you're holding out for a mid-range upgrade. The RX 7700 XT and 7800 XT will stay relevant longer than expected, but so will Nvidia's RTX 5000 cards. If you need an upgrade now, waiting two years is a long time to suffer 60 fps lows.

Check where your current card stands on the BetterFPS homepage — if it's already struggling in your main games, two years is too far out.
