AMD hikes GPU prices in China — RX 9070 up $104, international markets next
RX 9070 jumps $104 in China as memory costs bite — international hikes incoming

AMD has raised vendor pricing on its Radeon RX 9000-series GPUs in China, according to Board Channels reporting cited by VideoCardz. The RX 9070 took the biggest hit at $104 more, while the RX 9070 XT and RX 6500 XT stayed flat. International markets are expected to see similar increases soon.
The move comes as memory prices continue climbing — the "RAMpocalypse" VideoCardz references has been pushing up bill-of-materials costs for a year straight, and AMD is passing it through. The RX 9070 was already positioned as a tighter-margin card than the XT variant, so a $104 jump puts it uncomfortably close to the 9070 XT's MSRP. Whether board partners absorb any of that or push it straight to retail is unclear.
This is bad timing for AMD. The RX 9070 XT launched as a decent value at 1440p, but if the non-XT climbs $100+ and the XT holds steady, the non-XT stops making sense. The price gap was already narrow. NVIDIA's RTX 5070 sits in the same segment, and if AMD's pricing compresses while NVIDIA holds, the 9070 loses one of its few edges: cost per frame.
