AnyPS5 hits 100% PS5 GPU shader translation — native PS5 games on PC inching closer
Full PS5 shader decode opens the door to native PC ports — if you have RDNA 2 or newer AMD silicon

AnyPS5 — the project aiming to run PS5 games natively on PC by translating executables instead of emulating hardware — just hit a major checkpoint: 100% of the PlayStation 5's GPU shader instructions are now decoded. That's all 1166 RDNA 2-based shader ops from the PS5's "Oberon" GPU, according to TechPowerUp.
The approach is different from classic emulation. AnyPS5 relinks PS5 executables into Windows or Linux binaries and reimplements the PS5's system calls. With shader translation complete, the GPU side of the equation is theoretically solved — games can issue the same draw calls your RDNA 2 or newer AMD card already understands.
This doesn't mean playable games are around the corner. CPU instruction translation, system libraries, and I/O handling are separate problems. But shader coverage was the single biggest GPU bottleneck, and it's now cleared. If the project keeps pace, we could see experimental PS5 game boots on PC hardware within months, not years.
For BetterFPS readers with RDNA 2+ AMD GPUs (RX 6000/7000/9000), this is the first real signal that your card might natively run PS5 titles without waiting for a proper PC port. Worth watching. Check our GPU upgrade guide to see if your current card has the RDNA 2 foundation AnyPS5 relies on.
