Battlefield 6 Season 4 brings back carrier landings and teases Top Gun collab

Battlefield Studios dropped the Season 4 trailer a week ahead of its July 21 launch. The headline feature: carrier landings are back for the first time since Battlefield 2 (2005). You'll launch from and land on aircraft carriers mid-match, which means jet pilots finally have something to do besides strafe infantry and dogfight.

The trailer also shows new jets and what looks like a Top Gun collaboration — F/A-18s in matching livery, pilot gear that screams Maverick. No confirmation yet on whether it's a full cosmetic bundle or just themed skins, but the timing fits (Top Gun 3 rumors have been swirling).

This could shake up air superiority modes if carrier spawns are dynamic. The old BF2 carrier meta rewarded landing skill — botch your approach and you're swimming. If DICE nails the physics and doesn't make it a gimmick, this is the kind of depth BF6's vehicle sandbox has been missing. If it's just a reskinned spawn point with auto-land, it's window dressing.

Check your current Battlefield 6 settings before Season 4 drops — new content patches sometimes reset graphics configs or introduce stutters on older drivers.
