Call of Duty 2026 is a new Modern Warfare, skips last-gen consoles

Infinity Ward confirmed last night that Call of Duty 2026 is a new Modern Warfare entry. The studio called it a "definitive" installment, though no gameplay or feature details were shared.

The game will not ship on PS4 or Xbox One. That's a shift from Black Ops 6, which still supported last-gen hardware. Dropping those platforms means Infinity Ward can target higher baselines for asset quality and CPU overhead, but PC min/recommended specs haven't been published yet.

The "definitive" label means nothing until we see what engine changes or multiplayer reworks land. Modern Warfare II (2022) ran well on mid-range rigs. If IW keeps that optimization bar, this should be fine for 1080p cards. If they bloat it, we'll know by beta.

Check your current rig's FPS headroom before pre-ordering anything.
