DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction rolls out with image quality improvements
New AI denoiser cleans up ray tracing without costing frames

Nvidia released DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction in its latest driver drop. The update targets image quality in ray-traced games, smoothing out noise in reflections and shadows without changing performance. KitGuru's first-look testing confirms the cleanup is visible in motion.
Ray Reconstruction replaces hand-tuned denoisers with an AI model trained on cleaner ray-traced renders. It works across RTX 20-series and up — older cards get it too, not just Blackwell. The feature is opt-in per game, so developers need to patch it in. A handful of titles already support it at launch.
The tradeoff: zero FPS hit, but you're adding another layer of AI post-processing to your pipeline. If you're allergic to temporal artifacts or prefer raw raster, you can leave it off. For everyone chasing cleaner ray tracing without tanking frame rate, it's a straightforward win.
