DLSS 5's faster neural model pulled from NBA 2K27, modders report up to 90% frame gains
Modders pulled NVIDIA's faster DLSS 5 model from NBA 2K27; early tests show up to 90% frame gains in older games.

NVIDIA shipped its faster DLSS 5 Neural Rendering model with NBA 2K27 on October 16, and modders had it extracted within hours. Renan Maniero pulled the new 310.9.16.0 build of the DLL and shared it on X. That lets people inject it into games that don't officially support DLSS 5 yet, using tools like RenoDX and OptiScaler.
The new DLL keeps the older model around as Preset A, with the new one sitting under Preset B. Gaming Optimized on X tested both presets back-to-back and found the new model running up to 90% faster than the old one in some titles. That's a massive jump, especially for RTX 50-series cards already seeing good frame gen scaling.
This is the biggest DLSS performance leap since the jump from DLSS 2 to DLSS 3. If you're on an RTX 50-series card and a game officially supports DLSS 4 (like Cyberpunk or Alan Wake 2), you can drop this DLL in and test it yourself. The gains won't be 90% across the board (that's the high-water mark), but even a 30-40% bump is worth the five-minute swap.
If you're hunting for every last frame, run a fresh playbook on BetterFPS with your new DLSS setup and see where you land. The neural model does most of the work, but pairing it with the right settings still matters.
