Epic's first Unreal Engine 6 game is a new IP, not Fortnite

Epic confirmed its first Unreal Engine 6 title at a developer showcase yesterday, according to PC Gamer. The game is a new IP from an Epic-owned studio. Fortnite stays on UE5 for now.

UE6 promises better threading for open-world games and improved Nanite performance on mid-tier GPUs. Epic didn't share benchmarks or target framerates. The new IP has no release window yet.

This matters if you care about what your next GPU can actually run. UE5 games already hammer CPUs on anything below a 5800X3D. If UE6 leans harder on GPU compute, cards like the 4060 might age poorly. We'll know more when Epic drops real perf data.
