Forza Horizon 6 save files are getting deleted—here's how to protect yours

Xbox confirmed that some Forza Horizon 6 players are losing their save files to a corruption bug, according to VGC. The issue seems tied to cloud sync conflicts when switching between PC and console, though Xbox hasn't nailed down the exact trigger. A fix started rolling out today, but it's not automatic.

Until the patch hits your platform, Xbox recommends disabling cloud saves temporarily and backing up your local save file manually. On PC, that means copying your Forza saves from %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Packages to an external drive before launching the game. On Xbox, you're stuck hoping the cloud sync doesn't glitch, since manual backups aren't an option there.

This is the second major save bug for a Forza title in two years—Motorsport had a similar wipe issue at launch in 2023. If you're deep into progression or have rare cars unlocked, don't risk it. Take five minutes to copy your save folder before you boot up again.
