Gears of War: E-Day launches with RTX Mega Geometry on PC

Gears of War: E-Day is launching on PC with support for RTX Mega Geometry, NVIDIA's new tech for handling dense geometry in Unreal Engine 5 games. The Coalition confirmed the feature alongside DLSS 4.5 integration, making E-Day one of the first UE5 titles to ship with both.

RTX Mega Geometry offloads triangle and mesh processing to the GPU's hardware mesh shaders, which should help in scenes with millions of polygons (Nanite meshes, dense destruction debris). DLSS 4.5 adds the latest multi-frame generation tweaks from Blackwell cards. Both features require an RTX GPU — the Mega Geometry pipeline needs the mesh shader hardware that shipped on RTX 20-series and newer.

This is useful if you're running an RTX 4070 or better and want higher detail without tanking frames in heavy combat scenes. The question is whether the base UE5 performance holds up. Early UE5 games have had shader compilation stutter and CPU bottleneck issues that no amount of GPU tech fixes.
