GPU wholesale prices climbing again in China
Wholesale price hikes in China mean retail GPU prices are about to climb globally

Wholesale GPU prices are ticking up again in China, according to PC Gamer's reporting on regional distributor data. This follows a brief cooling period earlier in 2026 and means retail prices in North America and Europe will likely follow the same trajectory in the coming weeks.
The increases hit both NVIDIA and AMD cards across the stack. Mid-range models (RTX 5070, RX 9070 XT) are seeing the steepest percentage bumps at the wholesale level, though flagship cards aren't immune. China's distribution network is a leading indicator for global street prices — when wholesale costs rise there, retailers worldwide adjust within 2–4 weeks.
This is bad timing if you were waiting for post-launch discounts on the RTX 50-series or RX 9000. The window for sub-MSRP pricing just closed. If you need a card now and can find one near launch MSRP, that's probably as good as it gets for the next few months. Waiting will cost you more, not less.
If you're on the fence about upgrading, run a playbook to see if your current card is actually holding you back or if settings tweaks buy you another quarter.
