NVIDIA's new DLSS Preset C cuts frame generation time by 35%

NVIDIA rolled out a new DLSS Frame Generation preset in today's NVIDIA App beta. Preset C is the fastest performance mode yet, cutting generation time by up to 35% on the RTX 5060 compared to the default setting, according to NVIDIA's testing. The company says image quality takes a small hit, but not enough to wreck the experience.

The preset works on RTX 40-series, RTX 50-series, and RTX Spark GPUs. NVIDIA offers two DLSS models: Multi-Frame Generation (Blackwell cards only, generates multiple frames per rendered frame) and standard Frame Generation (one synthetic frame per real frame). Preset C speeds up the generation step itself — the AI inference that creates the interpolated frames.

This is good for budget RTX cards like the 5060 and 4060, where every millisecond counts at 1440p. The 35% speedup won't magically double your framerate, but it should reduce the latency penalty that frame generation adds. If you're running an RTX card and haven't tried frame gen because it felt sluggish, Preset C might change that.
