Nvidia may hike RTX 5090 price by $300 after launch

PC Gamer reports that Nvidia may raise the RTX 5090's price by as much as $300 in the coming months. The card launched at $1,999 in January — already a steep climb from the RTX 4090's $1,599 MSRP — and supply constraints haven't eased enough to stop the rumor mill.
The report doesn't cite an official Nvidia statement. It's possible this is internal chatter, leaked pricing memos, or just market speculation based on demand outpacing supply. Either way, a $2,300 flagship GPU would put the 5090 firmly out of reach for most builders.
This matters if you were planning to grab one in Q3 or Q4. If the hike happens, used 4090s may hold value longer than expected. The 5080 ($999) starts to look like the actual upgrade path for people who want high-refresh 4K without selling a kidney.
