Nvidia's first unified ARM gaming chip arrives October — 128GB shared memory, but x86 games need emulation

Nvidia announced the RTX Spark N1X, shipping October 2026 for laptops and desktops. It's a unified-memory ARM SoC pairing 18 or 20 CPU cores with 5,120 or 6,144 CUDA cores and up to 128GB of shared RAM. Tom's Hardware broke the story today.
The chip targets the gap Apple carved out with M-series silicon: one pool of memory feeding both CPU and GPU, cutting latency and power draw. The 20-core / 6,144-CUDA variant sits between an RTX 4070 and 4070 Ti in raw shader count. The unified memory means no separate VRAM bottleneck — games and apps pull from the same 128GB pool.
This matters if you're eyeing a new laptop or small-form-factor desktop and care about 1440p gaming without discrete card thermals. It doesn't if you already run a tower with a discrete GPU — Spark uses ARM (not x86), so Windows compatibility hinges on emulation for most PC games. Early benchmarks and driver maturity will decide whether this is a real option or just Nvidia hedging against Qualcomm's Snapdragon X push.
