Kojima's Physint moves from Sony to Xbox publishing
Xbox grabs Kojima's Metal Gear successor from Sony's hands

Microsoft announced today that it will publish Physint, Hideo Kojima's upcoming stealth-action game, shifting the project away from Sony. Kojima Productions first revealed Physint as a Sony partnership — a spiritual successor to Metal Gear Solid built for modern hardware. Now Xbox holds the publishing rights.
The deal extends beyond Physint. Xbox will continue publishing OD (the horror title announced in 2023) and expand the Kojima partnership into film and television projects. Microsoft didn't share release windows or platform exclusivity details — whether Physint stays multiplatform or becomes an Xbox/PC exclusive is unclear.
This is a reversal. Sony published Death Stranding and bankrolled Physint's initial development. Losing a Kojima project to a direct competitor is notable, especially given Metal Gear Solid's PlayStation legacy. For Xbox, it's a marquee win in the "we fund ambitious auteur projects" narrative they've been building.
