RTX 5060 Ti 16GB hits $882 in Japan as entry-level GPU prices surge

Japanese retailers now list the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB starting at ¥139,800 (~$882 USD converted), according to a Reddit post citing updated pricing from multiple stores. The 8GB variant starts at ¥118,800 (~$750). TechPowerUp notes this follows August and September predictions that entry-level GPUs would see steep increases in H2 2026.

Japan often sees hardware pricing shifts before other regions, so this isn't necessarily a global MSRP. Still, it's a data point. The RTX 5060 Ti launched earlier this year as NVIDIA's supposed 1080p/1440p sweet spot — 16GB was pitched as the future-proof option. At $882, it's anything but entry-level.

This stings if you were banking on the 5060 Ti as a sensible step up from a 3060 or older card. The 8GB model is cheaper but already tight for modern AAA at 1440p. The 16GB was supposed to be the smarter buy; at nearly $900, it's just expensive.

If you're shopping now, run a fresh playbook to see whether your current card is actually holding you back — you might be CPU-bound anyway, or able to squeeze more out of settings tweaks before paying inflated GPU prices.
