RTX 5080 disappears from NVIDIA's US store two weeks after 5090 vanished

NVIDIA's US Marketplace has pulled the RTX 5080 from its graphics card listings. The GPU filter now jumps from the RTX 5070 Ti straight to older models, with no 5080 options from any partner. The product page still says "Starting at $999," but there's nothing to buy.

The RTX 5090 vanished the same way two weeks back. It briefly reappeared at $5,599—more than double MSRP—then disappeared again. NVIDIA said the 5090 isn't discontinued, but offered no explanation for the removal and hasn't commented on the 5080 yet.

This looks like inventory problems, not end-of-life. The 5090 and 5080 both launched earlier this year with strong demand and tight supply. Pulling them from the storefront while the product pages stay live suggests NVIDIA can't keep stock flowing rather than intentionally killing the SKUs. If you're waiting on a 5080 or 5090 at MSRP, you're stuck watching third-party retailers and hoping for drops.

If you're weighing an upgrade and don't want to wait, check your current settings to see if you're leaving frames on the table before dropping four figures on a card you can't buy anyway.
