STALKER 2 patch 2.0 jumps to Unreal Engine 5.5.4, FPS up 30% on RTX 5080

GSC Game World released patch 2.0 for STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl today, upgrading the game from Unreal Engine 5.1 to 5.5.4. TweakTown tested the update on an RTX 5080 and saw FPS climb more than 30% in the same scenes.

The engine jump brings three years of Epic optimization work — better multi-threading, smarter occlusion culling, faster shader compilation. STALKER 2 shipped in November 2024 on UE 5.1, and performance was rough. This patch is the first time GSC has moved the engine version post-launch.

That 30% lift is substantial, but the RTX 5080 is a $1000+ card. Lower-end hardware will see gains, but probably not the same headroom — the bottleneck shifts around. If you're on a 4060 or RX 7600, check whether you're still CPU-limited in heavy Zone areas before expecting the same boost.

Run a fresh playbook for STALKER 2 to see if the new build changes your settings ceiling.
