Switch 2 gets Call of Duty, Resident Evil, and Final Fantasy in October 2026

Nintendo Switch 2 is getting a wave of major third-party games in October 2026, according to Polygon. The lineup includes Call of Duty (likely this year's mainline entry), a Resident Evil title, and a Final Fantasy release — all franchises that skipped or were heavily compromised on the original Switch due to hardware limits. Nintendo's first-party entry is Switch Sports Resort, the sequel to the 2022 hit.

The original Switch rarely saw day-and-date AAA third-party launches, especially for Activision's Call of Duty series, which hasn't had a native Switch release since the original console shipped in 2017. The Switch 2's beefed-up specs — rumored to include DLSS upscaling and a GPU closer to a last-gen console than the Tegra X1 in the first model — are apparently enough to get these publishers on board.

This is a real test for Nintendo. If these ports run at locked 60fps (or even stable 30fps with decent visuals), it makes the Switch 2 a legitimate option for people who care about performance in multiplayer shooters or action games. If they're choppy or heavily compromised, the "it's portable" angle won't carry the same weight it did in 2017.

If you're planning to grab a Switch 2 for these releases, check BetterFPS's settings database to see how these games run on comparable hardware — especially Call of Duty, which has had wildly different optimization quality across platforms in recent years.
