Three-year runway gives you budget for a proper GPU upgrade cycle

CD Projekt Red confirmed The Witcher IV will launch in 2028 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC, according to Gematsu. That's a three-year runway from today.

No specs surfaced yet—CD Projekt typically stays quiet on system requirements until a few months before launch. The studio's track record (The Witcher 3, Cyberpunk 2077) skews toward demanding open-world builds that push new hardware harder than most releases. Expect raytracing, DLSS 4 / FSR 4, and likely a 12GB VRAM floor at minimum settings based on how Cyberpunk's path-traced mode evolved.

Three years is enough time for two GPU generations to ship and depreciate. If you're on a GTX 1080 or RTX 2060-class card now, you're looking at a proper replacement cycle before this drops—not a panic buy six months out when stock's thin and prices spike.

Run a fresh optimization playbook when the specs land, but don't stress the timeline yet. You've got runway.
